Noted citizens of Bangladesh urged the government to form the next election commission according to the Constitution.
A total of 53 noted citizens of the country jointly issued a press release in this regard on Saturday.
The release said that the authorities failed to form a complete law about forming a proper Election Commission.
The release further said that both the incumbent Election Commission, headed by KM Nurul Huda, and the previous commission, headed by Rakib Uddin, showed partial attitude during the elections that made the polls questionable.
Professor emeritus Serajul Islam Choudhury, former minister barrister Amirul Islam, former cabinet secretary Akbar Ali Khan, former judge of Bangladesh Supreme Court Abdul Matin, human rights activist Hamida Hossain, former election commissioner M Sakhawat Hossain, former Bangladesh Bank governor Saleh Uddin Ahmed, and barrister Sara Hossain, among others, signed the press release.
