Govt to stockpile adequate doses of anti-venom at district hospitals

The government has a plan to stock adequate anti-venom, vaccine for snake bite treatment, at all the district hospitals throughout the country with a view to prevent huge death annually due to snake bite.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malique said this on Thursday while responding to a query made by Jatiya Party lawmaker Kazi Firoz Rashid at the House here.
Zahid Malique, however, said every year a significant number of people died in snake bite in the country, adding that a large number of physicians have been trained through the ongoing programme of the Director General of Health Service (DGHS).
He said : “we have a plan to stock pile adequate dose of anti-venom vaccines at the district level hospital.”
The state minister said in most of the time the anti-venom does not work properly as the vaccine has a self-life, adding so, it[anti-venom] does not work properly due to expiry the self- life of the vaccine.
