State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said the government is planning to set up solar parks at Mirsharai and Gaibandha for further development of renewable energy sector.
“There is a huge demand of solar energy in the country. The government has planned to set up solar parks on 2000 acres of land at Mirsharai and Gaibandha for the flourishing of the industry,” he said speaking as chief guest at a function in the city.
The function was held at CIRDAP auditorium marking the launching of Solar Module Manufacturers Association of Bangladesh (SMMAB), said a press release.
The state minister said the government wants to bring 100 percent of country’s population under electricity coverage.
Preparing a master plan is underway to attain the goal, prioritizing solar and other renewable energies, he said.
Urging private entrepreneurs to invest in renewable energy sector, Nasrul Hamid said, united effort are required to generate and use green and clean energy.
