State Minister for Post and Telecommunications Begum Tarana Halim on Monday said the government would repair or reconstruct ICT-based 1,500 post offices across the country.
“A project titled Construction of Rural Post Office having ICT facilities is now ongoing, undertaken in July, 2011 aimed at completing in June 2017,” she told the House, while replying to a question from treasury bench member AFM Bahauddin Nasim in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The state minister informed the House that the government has undertaken a programme to reconstruct or repair 1,144 rural post offices under the project.
Meanwhile, the ministry floated tender for reconstructing or repairing of 200 post offices, which include Khoajpur post office in Madaripur district, she said.
Besides, the government completed a project of “Improvement of Rural Post Office Service” in June 2011, Tarana added.
