The government has set a target of collecting two lakh tonnes of amon rice at Tk 31 a kilogram from farmers in the current season.
Food Minister Qamrul Islam said this to the reporters after a meeting organised by Food planning and monitoring committee at the Secretariat on Thursday.
The price of amon rice in this season is TK 1 a kilogram less than the earlier season. The price for amon rice was fixed TK 32 in last year.
Amon collecting programme will continue from December 15, 2015 to March 15, 2016.
A decision has been made to reduce prices of rice and flour in the open Market Sale (OMS), the minister added.
