Govt to import 300,000mt TSP, 150,000mt DAP fertilisers

The government will import 450,000 metric tonnes of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) and 150,000mt of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertilisers to meet the coming season’s domestic requirement.
Of the proposed bulk TSP fertiliser import, 300,000 mt will come from Groupe Chimique Tunisien (GCT), a state-owned Tunisian fertiliser company, and 150,000 mt from Moroccan state-owned company OCP SA.
The remaining 150,000 mt DAP fertiliser will also come from the same Moroccan company.
A Cabinet Purchase Committee meeting, chaired by Finance Minister AMA Muhith, approved three proposals in this regard.
Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), a state-owned agency under the Agriculture Ministry, placed all the proposals for the Cabinet body’s consideration.
While briefing reporters after the meeting, Cabinet Division joint secretary Mustafizur Rahman said the Moroccan OCP SA will supply each metric tonne of DAP fertiliser at US$ 625 while rate of each metric tonne TSP was fixed at US$ 500. The Tunisian GTC will supply the TSP fertiliser at the same rate.
The total 150,000 mt DAP fertiliser will cost Tk 731.25 crore while the 450,000 mt TSP fertiliser Tk 1755 crore.
