Govt to formulate master plan for planned urbanization

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossen said the government has a plan to formulate a master plan for a planned urbanization Dhaka City and its adjoining areas.
Under the master plan, the minister said, the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) has undertaken initiatives to implement three planned new housing projects at Keraniganj, DND and along the Balu River.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossen said this on Thursday in the Jatiya Sangsad in replying to question tabled from treasury bench member M Faridul Haq Khan of Jamalpur-2.
To meet the housing problem in the capital, the minister said, a total of 182 flats at Lalmatia and 360 residential flats at Mirpur have already been handed over to allotees.
Besides, the work on constructing 132 housing flats at Lalmatia, 900 at Mohammadpur and 1660 at Mirpur Section-9 is underway, said the minister.
Engineer Mosharraf told the parliament that the National Housing Authority has proposed constructing three ‘Satellite City’ around the capital Dhaka.
