‘Govt to form monitoring cell to implement gender budget’

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki on Tuesday said the government would form a monitoring cell with coordination of government and non-government organizations to implement the gender budget.
“The present government has ensured gender budget responsive amongst 43 ministries and we are working for 100 percent gender sensitive of the national budget,” she said this while speaking as the chief guest at CIRDAP here, according to a press release.
Inaugurating a project on Strengthening Gender Responsive Budgeting, Chumki said the gender budget is facing various problems for its implementation due to inefficiency of officials and employees, adding, “So that we are going to form a monitoring cell with various government and non-government organizations to implement.”
The function was addressed, among others, by Secretary of the ministry Nasima Begum, Director General of Women Affairs department Kazi Rawshan Ara , representative of UN Women Shoko Ishikawa and other representatives with Additional Secretary of the ministry Mahmooda Sharmin Benu in the chair.
