Medical fees, pathological and other test fees related to healthcare in private hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centres will be fixed by the government, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque, MP, has said.
“Fees and categories of medical treatment in the private hospitals will be fixed shortly. For this, a strong committee will be formed by the ministry within few days,” he added said.
“The government will take the next course of action as per the report of this committee,” Zahid Maleque said. the health minister also stated it while presiding over a review meeting on services of private hospitals, diagnostic centres, and clinics at the meeting room of the Ministry of Health at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
At the meeting, on behalf of the private hospitals, president of the
Bangladesh Medical Association Mubin Khan drew the health minister’s attention toward centralizing waste management from clinics, and the minister agreed to the idea.
Meanwhile, the government has prohibited private practices of government physicians in office times.
Taskforce Committee of health ministry said it through a press release on Wednesday.
It said that the decision has been taken in a meeting of the committee on Tuesday in the ministry.
The committee asked the government physicians to inform them it any one of them stay in private hospitals or clinic during office times.
Mostafa Kamal, Convener of the committee presided over the meeting while its Member Secretary Shibbir Osmani, Hospital Director of DGHS Dr. Farid Hossain Mian, Joint Secretary Salma Tanzia, among others, were present. The meeting decided to start drives against irregularities in private hospitals and clinics besides the public ones.
