Govt. to construct 2 underpasses

The government has undertaken an initiative to construct two underpasses connecting the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with the NAM Bhaban and the Shahjalal International Airport with the Airport Railway Station in the capital.
“The government has taken the initiative to constructs two underpasses as per a directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader told reporters here yesterday.
Earlier, the minister as the chief guest inaugurated a day-long training programme on working plan of the rehabilitation of 2nd and 3rd phase of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway.
The function was also addressed, among others, by bridge division secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam and project director of Dhaka Elevated Expressway Kazi Mohammad Ferdous.
Quader said, the two underpasses would be built for easy movement of the people in the capital city. Both the underpasses would have facilities of plying cars and walkway for the pedestrians, he said.
“We have already started the process for implementing the projects, but the construction cost is yet to estimated. The feasibility study work would begin shortly,” he said.
The minister said some underpasses in various counties have multi-purpose facilities.
