Langadu arson attack: Govt to build houses for affected families

The Government has decided to build houses for the affected people of Langadu arson attack under Ashrayan-2 project.
In this connection, Langdu Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mosaddek Mehdi Imam has received a letter from the Prime Minister’s office.
According to the UNO office, on July 11, a letter signed by the Joint Secretary of Prime Minister’s Office and Ashrayan-2 Project Director Abul Kalam Shamsuddin was issued. Langadu UNO received the letter recently
The UNO said, “We received the letter from the Ashrayan-2 project on Monday. In the letter, it has been instructed to build one homestead for each family. We have started works as per the instructions. Every affected family will get a semi-pucca house with a kitchen, a toilet and three rooms. In the letter, the estimated cost of each house was fixed at Tk 5.25 lakh including IT vat.”
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Rangamati Dr. Prokash Kanti Chowdhury told The Daily Observer that the Rangamati District Administration ordered the Langadu UNO to follow the instruction of the government. He also informed that under Somaj Kallyan Parishad, Tk 25 lakh has been granted for the arson affected people.
Meanwhile, the arson affected people urged the government to build their houses after talking with them.
On June 1, Juba League leader Nurul Islam Nayan’s body was recovered from Khagrachari-Dighinala road near Agricultural Research Centre area.
When the body was taken from Khagrachhari to his home, locals went to Langadu upazila headquarters with a procession. On the way, more than 200 homes of four villages were set on fire on June 2.
