The BNP leaders accused the government of denying Khaleda Zia proper medical treatment.
“The government is not giving Khaleda Zia very urgent medical treatment fearing loss of state power,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhurl Islam Alamgir said it while addressing a human chain at noon in front of Jatiya Press Club.
The party organised the programme demanding
 Khaleda Zia’s unconditional release and proper treatment.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “The government must release our party chairman soon. If they do not do, we will free her through tough agitation.”
The BNP leader said, their party chief is seriously sick in the jail. But the government is ignoring her necessity of medical treatment intentionally.
BNP Standing Committee Members Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Dr. Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Vice-Chairmen Begum Selima Rahman, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, AZM Zahid Hossain, central leaders Aman Ullah Aman, Abdus Salam, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Emran Saleh Prince, Abdus Salam Azad, Mortuzul Karim Badru Nurul Islam Noyon, Mostafizur Rahman Babul and others were present.
Besides, Dr. Jafarullah Chowdhury, founder of Ganoshastha Kendra and Labour Party Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Iran also present.
The leaders and activists chanted slogans demanding Khaleda Zia’s immediate release.
Numbers of law enforcers were deployed around the National Press Club to maintain discipline.
Khaleda was sentenced to five years in jail on February 8 last year in a graft case and sent to old Dhaka central jail.
