Govt takes all out preparation to face outbreak of Ebola

The government has taken all out preparation to face the deadly Ebola virus in the country.
About the preparation, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR ) Prof Mahmudur Rahman said, “Even though the risk of the Ebola outbreak is low in Bangladesh, the government has taken all out preparations to resist the disease.”
A total of 25 medical teams are working at 20 land ports, three international airports and two sea ports across the country, said Prof Rahman, adding, “We have imparted training to some 3000 doctors to face the catastrophe of the Ebola virus.”
Replying to a query on primary symptom of the disease, Mahmudur Rahman said, Ebola is a viral illness of which the initial symptoms can include a sudden fever, intense weakness, muscle pain and a sore throat and that is just the beginning: subsequent stages are vomiting, diarrhoea and – in some cases – both internal and external bleeding.
World Health Organization (WHO) says more than 4000 deaths so far recorded in Ebola outbreak. So far 8,399 people in seven countries in the world have been infected with the deadly Ebola virus and total 4033 people out it have died.
Apart from this, Prof Mahmudur Rahman said if any case of Ebola virus detected, then the patient would be sent to Kurmitola General Hospital. A total of 20 separate beds also have been arranged for treatment of the Ebola virus affected patients, Rahman said.
The virus was first identified in 1976 in Sudan and Congo.
