The government has suspended a special open market sale (OMS) of rice at Tk 10 per kg due to concerns over the risks of spreading the coronavirus.
Food Secretary Musammat Nazmuanara Khanum confirmed the matter on Monday.
“Buying the Tk 10 rice kg attracts large crowds because it does not require any special cards. This increases the risk of corona spread and so the programme has been suspended for the time being,” she said.
