UNB, Dhaka :
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Tuesday said the government is engaged in staging another drama over the city polls like the previous one – the January-5 general election.
In a statement, Jamaat central executive member and Mohanagor ameer Rafiqul Islam Khan said voters at different centres of the capital were not allowed o choose their candidates.
He said, ruling party men did not allow the agents of opposition-backed candidates to enter polling stations, and even attacked them in some areas to implement the government agenda. “The members of law enforcement agencies were active to follow the instructions of ruling party-backed candidates rather than protecting the rights of voters,” the Jamaat ammer said.
Condemning the attacks on their candidates and polling agents, Rafiqul Islam said holding the city polls through fake votes outshined the January 5 general election.
