The BNP accused the government of unleashing police on the party men in front of its Nayapaltan office to destroy the election environment.
“The government is destroying election environment unleashing police to attack the BNP men in front of our central office at Nayapaltan. We condemn it. We urge the government to resume election atmosphere soon,” BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said it after a sudden clash between police and BNP men at Wednesday around 1pm.
Mirza Fakhrul said it before entering the Nirbachan Commission Bhaban where
 Jatiya Oikyafront held meeting with the EC later.
The BNP leader said, “Police attacked the BNP men after entering the party office unnecessarily. It proves that they are intentionally destroying election environment.”
So, Jatiya Oikyafront (JOF) condemns the ‘Nayapaltan attack’. The JOF coordination committee condemns the incident from its meeting in its temporary office at Arambagh in the capital after the clash.
In a statement, said, the meeting took the attack for destroying the polls atmosphere.
Meanwhile, BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi alleged that police attacked the party men without any provocation with ‘direction of Election Commission.’
Rizvi said, “Helmet bahini has set ablaze to police vehicles.”
He said that the nomination papers sale was suspended for three hours due to the clash.
Rizvi said, around 400 nomination forms were submitted by the aspirants when around 500 forms were sold.
BNP men and police locked into a clash in front of Nayapaltan party office that left a number of people injured.
BNP leaders and activists said the police suddenly attacked on them in the name of clearing the road.
The BNP leaders alleged that around 75 of the party men were injured from police rubber bullets and tear gas shells attacks.
