Staff Reporter :
The BNP on Wednesday accused the government of trying to eliminate late President Ziaur Rahman’s name from the country.
“The government is also trying to remove Ziaur Rahman’s grave from the capital city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. It also erasing Zia’s name from every institution named after him. In the latest incident, ruling Awami League leaders cast black ink on Ziaur Rahman’s nameplate on ‘Zia Smirti Zadughar’ on Chattogram. It is clearly vengeful act of the government against the founder of the BNP and sector commander,” BNP Senior
leader Rizvi said it in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan office.
The BNP leader said “The government can’t erase Zia’s name from the heart of the people who love Zia and her family very much.”
Rizvi Ahmed said, Ziaur Rahman was overwhelmed with people’s love as he made lots of contributions to the nation through his work.
Rizvi asked the government to shun the way of vengeance.
BNP central leaders Abdus Salam, Abul Khair Chowdhury, Abdus Salam Azad, Belal Ahmed and Taiful Islam Tipu, among others, were present.
