Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Sunday said a database with biometric information of government officials would be prepared making it available online so that any fake passports cannot be made using their names and credentials.
The minister made the statement as he inaugurated a database of prisoners prepared by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at its headquarters. His statement came amid recent reports that some peoplehave left the country with fake passports using government officials’ names and their credentials.
The minister said the new online document-“RAB Prison Inmate Database System” will be connected with immigration points to prevent criminals from leaving the country by faking their names.
He said, the elite force has already preserved data about 45000 criminals who are serving jail terms across the country, and more names would be added.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque, Director General of RAB Benazir Ahmed, Inspector General (Prison) of Police Brigadier General Iftekhar Uddin and chiefs of detective branches were present at the inauguration program.
