Govt officials asked to root out militancy

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, at a meeting in Rajshahi have instructed the district magistrate and other law enforcing agencies to put in their best efforts to root out militancy, terrorism, terror attacks and all other social crimes.
He said the district level administrative and police officials and others concerned should have to come forward with all their efforts to eliminate the crimes at any cost as the government is pledged bound to free the country from the curses.
He was addressing a district level law and order committee meeting held in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner yesterday as the chief guest.
With Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair, high officials from police, RAB, BGB, Ansar-VDP, local government institutions and other members of the committee were present at the meeting and took part in its open discussion.
State Minister Shahriar Alam said the law-enforcers should always play a supportive role in successful implementation of the present government’s charter of change and Vision-2021 as the success of a government largely depends on law and order situation in the country.
He said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working for the last seven and a half years for the wellbeing of the people.
He urged the district level administrative and police officials and others concerned to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for welfare of the people.
“All the anti-people and anti-development activities must be eliminated with officials-public collaborative efforts,” he said.
Shahriar Alam categorically said: “Committing crime against humanity and unleashing terrorism can’t be a part of any movement or any norm.”
He expressed his optimism that Bangladesh would become a middle-income
country by 2021 if the present development spree in all sectors continues.
The development programmes carried out in all sectors, including
Agriculture, Industry, Power, Education, Health, Investment, Food Security,
Social Safety net, Women Empowerment, Environment, Information and
Communication and Technology are remarkable.
