Govt offices to go under same roof in Ctg soon

Within four years, all government offices in Chittagong, including the 33 dilapidated ones, will go under the same roof. Construction work of an integrated government office building has started on a 6-acre land on Marine Drive Road near Karnafuli River in Hamidchar area of Chandgaon.
The design will be sent to the Cabinet for approval in the next few days. In addition to the 6 acres, another 36 acres have been identified to meet future needs. Construction of integrated buildings can take up to four years. And after four years, all government offices, including the Chittagong Divisional Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, will start operating under the same umbrella in the integrated building.
Chittagong Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman expressed the above optimism while addressing the monthly meeting of Chittagong District Development Coordination Committee held at Chittagong Circuit House today.
He said there are 33 government offices in Chittagong which are dilapidated. Besides, government offices are located in different parts of the city. In order to facilitate the activities of different offices, people have to face various sufferings. An integrated initiative has been taken to bring all government offices under one roof to end this situation and reduce human suffering and save time. A site has already been identified for this integrated office building project in Chittagong. A high-level government delegation led by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister visited the site. Design is being made.
