Staff Reporter :The government is now waiting for the copy of the judgment of the Supreme Court, as the authorities concerned will take step to execute the death sentence awarded to Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman after obtaining the copy. Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq on Tuesday said that the death sentence of Kamaruzzaman will be executed after obtaining the copy of the verdict of the apex court. “Let us see what the court does. We are waiting for the Supreme Court’s directive,” he said. The minister was talking to reporters after a meeting with State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmood Khandker at his ministry. Then the government will execute the verdict. However, the defence lawyers argued for Kamaruzzaman’s right to appeal for review and they would go for the review within a month after obtaining the verdict’s copy.
