BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Friday said, the government will never be able to bring back the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman now.
“Tarique Rahman has been granted political asylum there and as per the UK’s law he will not be deported therefrom. So, the government will never be able to bring back
Tarique Rahman now. Much the AL leaders cry out about bringing back Tarique Rahman to the country, the AL leaders do not want him here for fear of losing power and facing public wrath,” the BNP leader said while addressing a doa mahfil arranged by the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal at the party’s Nayapaltan central office praying for its Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s early recovery.
Dr. Mosharraf said, the Prime Minister and other ministers are often passing careless remarks about bringing back Tarique Rahman from the UK, but they should mind that it will not be possible.
“We like to say that Tarique Rahman will surely return home one day like a hero, Khondaker Mosharraf said.
The BNP leader said, the ruling Awami League would be thrown into dustbins if fair poll held.
“The ruling Awami League has no popularity. It will face dire consequences for disregarding the people and the democracy. The government has been panicked and fears to hold an inclusive polls as the country’s people do not support them,” he said.
He reiterated the party’s demand for release of Khaleda Zia from jail so that she can be properly treated by her personal physicians. The BNP leader said, it will not be possible for the AL to hold credible and inclusive national election without releasing Khaleda Zia from jail.
