Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam said the present government is an education-friendly one and it is giving proper priority to education.
“The goal of the government is to raise the literacy rate in the country to hundred percent. And we are working to attain the goal. School children are now getting new books on the first day of the year, which did not happen in the past,” he said.
The minister came up with the observations on Saturday while addressing the founding anniversary of Kishori Lal (KL) Jubilee School and College in the city.
Presided over by president of school’s governing body Md Sayeed, the function was also addressed by noted poet Nirmalendu Goon, among others.
Qamrul advised the students of the institution to study well and said, “It is the era of competition. The chances of getting great opportunity in life will become slimmer unless you make good results in the exams. The teachers too will have to give more attention to their pupils.”
