Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi (Bir Protik) on Sunday said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is committed to revamp the silk sector for the sake of protecting its magnificent heritage.
“Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had founded the Bangladesh Sericulture Board in 1974 to flourish the silk sector in Bangladesh. So, we have to revitalize the traditional silk sector to uphold the memory of Bangabandhu,” he said this while addressing a view-sharing meeting as chief guest in Rajshahi city.
Bangladesh Sericulture Development Board (BSDB) hosted the meeting at its conference hall discussing and devising ways and means on how to revive the prestigious sector collectively.
