Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday said, the government along with the people is determined to uproot militancy and terrorism from the country.
“BNP has given the call for national unity against terrorism and militancy in its bid to fish in the troubled waters,” he said.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said this at a human chain and oath-taking ceremony in front of the National Press Club organised by The Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB).
The organisation arranged the programme with a view to creating public awareness to resist terrorism, militancy, evil activities and conspiracies of the anti-liberation forces against the backdrop of recent militant attacks with a view to consolidating national unity under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
IDEB president AKMA Hamid presided over the function, also addressed, among others, by state minister for Jute and Textiles Mirza Azam, former state minister for Home affairs Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, chairman of the central command council of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Maj Gen (Retd) Helal Morshed Khan and IDEB general secretary Md Shamsur Rahman.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “National unity has already been created against terrorism and militancy under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
We all have to work together with dedication and motto of self-sacrifice to retain the unity upholding the spirit of the Liberation War.”
“The anti-liberation forces have started conspiring resorting to various propaganda tactics to jeopardise the unity forged under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. All should have to remain vigilant. No evil force can raise its hood if we all remain united and organised on the spirit of independence,” the Awami League leader added.
