Govt does not differentiate between public and private students: Minister

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Monday said the government did not differentiate between the students of public and private educational institutions as it is working tirelessly to ensure education for all.
The minister said, “We never keep any different point of view about public and private universities’ students…So we want to ensure education for all the students of the country because they are our next generation.” The minister said while addressing the 3rd convocation of Primeasia University at International Convention City Bashundhara in the city, said a press release.
He urged private university authorities to keep all expenses including tuition and admission fees affordable considering the socio-economic status of people.
The government has given approval to set up a number of public and private universities to ensure higher education of the students, Nahid said, adding the government has taken all the measures to monitor the standard of those universities.
University Grant Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan, Primeasia University board of Trustees Chairman M A Khalek and Vice-Chancellor Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury and High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh Benoit Prefontaine were present, among others.
A total of 5,856 students were awarded Honours and Masters degrees at the programme.
