Govt distributes Tk 2.42cr among flood-hit people

The government has so far distributed Taka 2.42 crore in cash among the flood affected victims as more than 55 lakh people have been devastated by the recent flood.
“The government has so far dispensed Taka 2, 42, 71,200 out of allocated Taka 4,16,50,000 in cash among the flood-hit people till August 4,” according to the data provided by the district administrations.
In addition, the government has also allocated 16,410 tonnes of rice, from which, 10,048 tonnes have been distributed among the flood affected people in 33 districts.
Taka 67.54 lakh out of allocated Taka 1.38 crore has been distributed for purchasing baby food while more than Taka 1.44 crore out Taka 2.86 crore has been provided for procuring cattle feed.
“A total of 1, 62,000 packets of dry food have been handed over among the flood affected people across the country,” the data showed.
The government has also allocated 300 bundle corrugated iron sheet and Taka nine lakh as household grant.
The data said nearly 10 lakh families were marooned, affecting 55, 63,777 people while 1,058 unions and 162 upazilas were flooded. Due to this situation, around 77,052 people have taken refuge at 1,567 flood shelter centers in the flood-hit districts.
