Govt destroys pillars of democracy: BFUJ

Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) on Wednesday said the Government of Sheikh Hasina has already destroyed the three pillars of democracy out of the four.
 It is now trying to destroy the left one by introducing National Broadcasting Policy which contradicts the desires of freedom fighter.
The leaders of the largest body of journalists were speaking at an agitation gathering held at Jessore Press Club on Wednesday noon.

M Abdullah, acting president, BFUJ was the chief guest in the meeting while MA Aziz, secretary general, BFUJ was the special guest.
Chaired Noor Islam, president, Journalists Union of Jessore, the meeting was also addressed among others by Mirza Selim Reza, assistant secretary general, Shariful Islam, organising secretary, Anwarul Kabir Nantu, executive member, former leaders Fakir Shaukat and Ahsan Kabir, M Ayub, general secretary, JUJ and Benzin Khan.
Terming the information minister as a liar, MA Aziz, in his speech, said the National Broadcasting Policy was implemented under the direct supervision of the minister although he denied the information about preparation of any such policy before it came into light.
‘Hasanul Haque Inu cannot hold the position of minister as he has not the quality’, MA Aziz added.
The BFUJ Secretary General termed the social welfare minister as non-educated man who is harmful for the post.
The BFUJ leader also said several laws are underway to curb the democratic rights of the people.
