‘Govt constantly monitoring entire healthcare services’

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said the government is constantly monitoring the entire healthcare services in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
“I am performing my duties round the clock for better management of healthcare services amid coronavirus pandemic,” he said this while speakingat a meeting with officials of the Health Ministry at his secretariat office here, an official press release said.
Referring to a report run by a newspaper, the minister said, “News published by the newspaper about me is false and fabricated.”
He said the government has already taken massive initiatives including increasing testing facilities for suspected Covid-19 cases, recruitment of 2,000 physicians, 5,000 nurses, and improving the healthcare system to deal with the pandemic.
Maleque questioned how the government has taken huge steps within a short time to halt the spread of the Covid-19 disease.
“We are taking holistic approach considering the current trend of the Covid-19 to protect the people from infection of the deadly virus… Alongside preventive measures of the disease, the government is taking initiatives to keep the economic wheel of the country moving for the sake of life and livelihood of the people.”
