Graduation to developing nation: Govt celebrates on graduation from LDCs thru` different events

People from all walks of life on Thursday joined a countrywide weeklong celebration marking Bangladesh’s graduation from the group of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) to a developing nation.
The capital Dhaka as well as other parts of the country has been adorned with festoons, posters, banners and colourful flags to celebrate the country’s success.
In Dhaka, huge processions were brought out from different places that merged at Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Government officials from different Ministries, Divisions, Departments and offices brought out processions in the city with banners and festoons. Different classes of people were also joined the processions with placards and banners highlighting development of the country.
They also chanted slogans on various success of the present government and economic progress of the country.
Artistes, players, eminent personalities and dignitaries have been seen joined the processions in different areas on their way to Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Many rallies under different banners with musical instruments were seen passing streets across the city.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the celebration at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the morning.
Later, she was given a grand reception by the Economic Relations Division (ERD) under the Ministry of Finance.
At the reception, Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the UN’s letter of recognition to the Prime Minister for the significant achievements of her government in attaining the prestigious status for the nation and the country.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the evening joined a colourful cultural function along with her family members at the stadium.
An amazing laser show and firework also displayed at the function.
