State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Bir Bahadur today said the government is bringing the whole hill region under communications network by constructing roads in remote areas.
The pace of ongoing development activities is being enhanced maintaining peace and harmony in the CHT, he said speaking as the chief guest at a function to inaugurate renovation of Bandarban-Keranihat and Baroaulia-Tankaboti roads here at a cost of Taka 21 crore.
The state minister said the improvement of economic condition of the backward hill people is possible through the development of the transport system.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is giving special attention to the development activities in the CHT areas, he said, adding that development started in the hill region after the signing of the CHT peace treaty.
“The Awami League government is very sincere for development of the hill people,” the state minister said.
Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Banik, Police Super Mizanur Rahman and District Council Acting Chairman Kashapro Marma were present at the function, among others.
