The government has absorbed 1,233 employees working in 64 Technical School and Colleges (TSCs) under Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) over a decade even after completion of their project period, officials said.They said the government had appointed these employees in the TSCs under a project titled: “Establishing 13 New Vocational Training Institute (VTI) and Renovation -Modernization of 51 Existing VTI” to improve the quality of technical education and they were continuing to do so after the end of the project period on June 30 in 2004.A senior official of the education ministry said the ministry took the initiative to absorb the 1,233 manpower of the project aiming to bring an end to their sufferings and improve the quality of education of TSCs where more than 60,000 students are enrolled each year.”We have given emphasis to improve the quality of technical education that required to make smoother the journey towards building Digital Bangladesh as charted out in the Vision 2021,” said Education Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam Khan.He said with the transfer of 1,233 employees to revenue budget the frustration and sufferings of teachers and instructors have gone and they could put their best endeavor to improve the quality of technical education and make the students into skilled human resources.The education secretary has taken crush programme to resolve all pending issues of the education ministry especially related to teaching to improve the overall quality of education. He held series of on promotion of teachers of colleges and transferring 1233 manpower to revenue budget.Additional Secretary (Technical) of Education Ministry Ashoke Kumar Biswas said the ministry of finance in 2010 has agreed to transfer the 1,233 employees of TSCs under DTE to revenue budget.”Finally we have been able to absorb all the 1,233 manpower last week after thorough exercise on the issue during the last one month and holding series of meetings under the chairmanship of education secretary,” he said.Ashoke said barring 1,233 manpower, one post of BCS (technical education), 297 officers and teachers are upgraded from 9th to 7th grade (selection grade) of pay scale.The sources said of the 1,025 manpower of 64 TSCs who absorbed 60 are principals, 203 Chief Instructors (tech), 133 instructors (tech), 49 instructors (English), 208 instructors (language), 336 Junior Instructors (tech), 09 head assistants, librarians 44, Upper Division Assistant Cum-Computer Operators 58, Accountants 21, Office Assistant-cum-data entry operators 34 and MLSS/Guard 78.
