Goutam Ghose to release new movie on Pahela Boishakh

Movie “Shongkhochil” a joint production of India and Bangladesh will be released on April 14 on the occasion of Pahela Boishakh. The first day of Bengali New Year will see the movie released in more than fifty movie theatres in Bangladesh and Indian side of Bengal. Veteran Indian director Goutam Ghose has directed the movie as his fourteenth venture. It has been produced by Impress Telefilm and Ashirbad Chalachitra of Bangladesh while Indian entrepreneurs Prasenjit Chattopadhyay and Mou Ray Chowdhury and production house N Ideas have provided support. Prasenjit Chattopadhyay and Kusum Shikdar have acted in the lead roles of the movie. Debutant Anum Rahman Khan will act as the little daughter of the two. She like Kusum is also a Bangladeshi artist. Mamunur Rashid, Prabir Mitra, Rosy Siddiqui, Riyaz Mahmood Jewel, Shakil Ahmed, Shahed Ali, Dipankar Dey, Arindam Shil and more have acted in the movie. It has been filmed in the border region of India and Bangladesh in the village of Taki in the district of Uttar Chabbish Paragana, West Bengal, India.
The movie features a Nazrul song “Khlechi E Biswaloy” sung by celebrated artist Ferdous Ara.
Shongkhochil, is a movie on the great sub-continental partition. But it deals with not with the partition itself and rather with the memories related with it. A Bangladeshi teacher and the family of this teacher come across the issue in their course of life.
The release date was declared at a press conference held recently at Channel i Bhavan, Tejgaon in the city. The press conference was attended by Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Impress Telefilm; Habibur Rahman Khan, chief of Ashirbad Chalachitra along with Goutam Ghose, Mamumunur Rashid, Ferdous Ara and former election commissioner Brigadier (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain.
