Good songs are still making: Tapan Chowdhury

Tapan Chowdhury is such a popular singer who has been
presenting melodious, poetic and lyrical songs for more than
four decades in the music industry of Bangladesh and still after
coming country he tries to maintain this continuity in this regard. He is a noted singer Tapan Chowdhury who never thought anything except rendering song in his whole life due to have uncompromising loves and affection to music. This popular face has been residing in Montreal, Canada for many years. He is also
rendering song there. He renders songs in Canada in different occasions. But he always wants to return his motherland. He often misses his country Bangladesh because he believes there is huge satisfaction to render songs in front of the country’s people which he never found in any other country of the world.
Tapan Chowdhury informed that he last rendered a song titled ‘Shesh Biday’ under Ruptanu Rupu’s music composition. Lyrics of the song were written by Humayun Chowdhury. While sharing his feelings about the song, Tapan Chowdhury told this correspondent from Canada, “For the first time, I have rendered a song under Ruptanu’s composition. Lyrics and tune of the song made me very much emotional. Good songs are still making which has proved again by this song. I don’t know how a song becomes a good song which has no poetic and lyrical matters.”
Last year in March, Tapan Chowdhury last came to Bangladesh. He last composed the song titled ‘Sob-e Tumi,’ which lyrics were written by Mustafa Khalid Palash. Tapan also lent his voice for the song which music was arranged by Ujjal Sinha.
Tapan Chowdhury also said that now he has no plan to come to country. But his mind always wants to come back here.
In 1979, Tapan Chowdhury became a superstar after rendering the popular song titled ‘Mon Shudhu Mon Chhuyechhe’ under the banner of band, Souls. He stepped forward after airing this song which lyrics were written by Naquib Khan and tune was composed by Pilu Khan. After getting huge popularity in 1979 the band Souls released their debut album in 1981 where this song took place. Tapan rendered the song ‘Mon Shudhu Mon Chhuyechhe’ was used in BTV’s drama titled ‘Protishruti’ popularity of the song went to the peak. During that time Manosh Bandyopadhyay and US expatriate actress Juthi performed with this song in that drama.
In playback song, Tapan Chowdhury debut his career rendering the song titled ‘Koto Kandlam,’ which was used in late Amzad Hossain legendary movie ‘Bhat Dey.’ The song was lip-synced by hero Alamgir in the movie. But in playback, Tapan Chowdhury rendered the song titled ‘Pathorer Prithibite Kancher Hridoy,’ which was used in Razzak directed movie ‘Dhaka 86,’ was most popular song in his voice. Lyrics of the song were written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar. Shakila Jafar was co-singer of Tapan in the song. ‘Firey Elam’ was Tapan Chowdhury’s last released solo album.
