Staff Reporter :Customs Intelligence Department in a drive seized at least nine gold bars weighing 1.1kilograms worth Tk 55 lakh from a passenger in the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday morning. The arrested man has been identified as Abdur Rahim, a passenger of United Arab Emirates (UEA) Airlines, customs officials said. Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department’s Assistant director Abu Yousuf said that a team of customs officials intercepted Rahim when he was crossing the Green Channel Gate at around 8:30m. The gold bars weighing 1.1 kg were recovered from a flask through scanning.Rahim came to Dhaka from Dubai by a UAE airline, the customs official said. Rahim is being interrogated in this connection, he said.
