Gold prices lower from today

The drop in gold price by Tk 1,517 per bhori (11.664 grams) followed the global fall, said Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) in a statement to the media on Sunday.
Gold of 22-carat will be sold at Tk 46,889 per bhori from today (Monday) in line with the revised price. The price of 21-carat gold will be Tk 44,673, 18-carat gold Tk 38,491 but on traditional method, customers will have to pay Tk 26010.
 The price was raised by Tk 1,516 per bhori on August 22. A bhori of gold was sold at Tk 48,347 (22-carat), Tk 46,189 ((21-carat), Tk 39,599(18-carat) and Tk 27,527 (old method) as per that price until Saturday.
The price of silver has also fallen. The merchants will charge Tk 933 for one bhori of 21-carat silver.
According to international standard, there is 91.6 percent pure gold in 22-carat gold, 87.5 percent in 21-carat, and 75 percent in 18-carat.
In the traditional method, gold is acquired from old ornaments. There is no standard of purity in this method.
Dilip Kumar Agarwala, General Secretary of BAJUS said that the association took the decision in its meeting on Saturday night in this regard.
