UNB, Rajbari :
Believe it or not, a fisherman in Goalanda has pulled out two giant Pangash, weighing 47kg, from the estuary of the Padma river.

Haldar, the lucky fisherman, told reporters he caught the two collosal-sized fish while fishing in the river off the coast of Goalanda upazila, along with his friends, in the river in the early hours of Wednesday.

Haldar later auctioned the two giant fish —one weighing 28 kg and another 19 kg — for a huge sum. Md Chandu Mollah, a local fish trader, bought the two fish at Tk 62,000.

Mohammad Rezaul Sharif, Goalanda upazila fisheries officer, said big fishes are usually netted during the monsoon. “We need to protect such species of fish.”
