GM Ziaur Rahman of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited maintained his solo lead in the points table with 8 points after 9th round of the Berger Paints National A Chess Championship was held at the Media Centre of Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Monday.
In the 9th round, Zia beat Masum Hossain of Fire-Service & Civil Defense. GM Enamul Hossain of Bangladesh Navy took the 2nd position with 7½ points. Enamul beat CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed of Dhaka Mohammedan. Reigning champion GM Abdullah Al Rakib of Bangladesh Navy took the 3rd spot with 7 points and GM Niaz Murshed of Dhaka Mohammedan took the 4th position with 6½ points. Rakib beat FM Debaraj Chatterjee of Titas Club while Niaz beat CM Sohel Chowdhury of Leonine Chess Club.
