GM Rakib shares points with GM Niaz Murshed

Defending champion GM Abdullah Al Rakib of Bangladesh Navy drew with country’s first GM Niaz Murshed of Dhaka Mohammedan SC in the 2nd round match of the Berger Paints National Chess at the Media Centre of Bangladesh Olympic Association on Sunday.
In the day’s 2nd round match, Rakib played with white pieces in Queen’s Gambit Declined game. Niaz offered for a draw after 12 moves, but Rakib refused and continued the game. In the 18th move, Rakib offered for a draw and Niaz accepted it.
Another GM Ziaur Rahman of Dhaka Mohammedan SC beat CM Sohel Chowdhury of Leonine Chess Club. Zia played with white pieces in Queen’s Gambit Declined game and won the match at 28th move.
