A total of 2,08,527 died from coronavirus while infected 30,21,049 in 210 countries and territories around the world among them, 8,91,212 recovered, according to worldometer.
The United States is currently going through a terrible time due to the deadly coronavirus outbreak that has spread from China in late December last. 55,415 people died in the country plagued with 987,322 people infected with the virus. Of them, 118,781 people have recovered.
In the last 24 hours, 26,509 people have been newly infected in the country. On the other hand, 1,157 people died in one day. However, the number of victims has decreased compared to the previous day.
A day earlier, the number of new cases in was 35,419 and 2,065 people had died of deadly coronavirus that has attacked all 50 states in the United States.
However, the New York state is the most affected by the virus outbreak having 2,93,991 people infected with the virus. On the other hand, 22,275 people lost their lives in the US state. Then, New Jersey is the second-worst affected state in the country having 1,09,038 people infected with the coronavirus. Of them, 5,938 people have died.
Massachusetts is in the third position following the New York and New Jersey states as 54,934 people have been infected with the lethal virus in the state and so far, 2,899 people have died.
In the Illinois state, so far 43,903 people have been infected with coronavirus and 1,933 people have died. In California, 43,541 people have been infected with coronavirus and 1,718 people have died.
Meanwhile, the top US infectious disease specialist and head of the coronavirus task force Dr. Anthony Fauci fears that 50,000 to 60,000 people in the United States could die from coronavirus. Earlier, he had predicted the deaths of 150,000 to 200,000 people.
The number of Italy’s confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 197,675 on Sunday as the country recorded the lowest single-day deaths in six weeks.
Coronavirus pandemic has claimed 26,644 lives in locked-down Italy, according to latest data released by the country’s Civil Protection Department.
Meanwhile, the number of new deaths, new infections and of patients in intensive care keeps declining.

The number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care units (ICUs) continued to decline, a trend that started three weeks ago. On Sunday, 2,009 patients are in ICUs, down from 2,102 a day earlier.

The number of patients recovering at home — the mildest of three categories of infected individuals — was 82,722 while those recovering in the hospital with symptoms totaled 21,372. On Saturday, the numbers were respectively 82,212 and 21,533.

Italy entered into a national lockdown on March 10 to contain the pandemic. The lockdown, which is expected to last until May 3, will be followed by a so-called “Phase Two,” which involves “the gradual resumption of social, economic and productive activities,” the Italian government has explained.

The number of daily fatalities from the novel coronavirus reported in Spain rose on Monday to 331, up from 288 the previous day, the health ministry said.

The overall death toll caused by the disease rose to 23,521 from 23,190 the day before. The total number of diagnosed cases rose to 209,465 from 207,634 the day before.
