A delegation of the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS) at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada has visited Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) on Monday. The members of the delegation include Dr. Steven Webb, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of GIFS and Mr. Hasan Pervez Ahmed, International Program Development Manager of GIFS.
Senior scientists of BARI welcomed the delegation at the time of their arrival in the institute. BARI Director General Dr. Debasish Sarker also gave a welcome address at his conference room. Chief Scientific Officer of the Agronomy Division of BARI Dr. Dilwar Ahmed Choudhury gave brief PowerPoint presentation on the activities and achievements of BARI. Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Bokhtiar, Senior Program Specialist (Crops) of SAARC Agriculture Centre, Bangladesh, Dr. Sreekanth Attaluri, Regional Coordinator of ICARDA Dr. Ashutosh Sarker, BARI Director (Support & Services) Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Director (Research) Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam, Director (Planning and Evaluation) Dr. Apurba Kanti Chowdhury, Director (Training and Communication) Dr. Ferdousi Islam and Director (TCRC) Dr. Sohela Akhter, heads of the divisions, senior scientists, officers, among others were present on the occasion.
Various aspects of agricultural research development were discussed in the meeting and the guests expressed their satisfaction to see the current activities, progress and success of BARI.
