Gias Quader Chy gets bail in two cases

The High Court (HC) on Sunday granted anticipatory bail to BNP leader Gias Uddin Quader Chowdhury for three weeks in two separate criminal cases.
One of the cases was filed by Fatikchhari Upazila Awami League General Secretary Nazim Uddin Muhuri with a Chattogram court on May 31 on charge of threatening to kill the Prime Minister.
A Chattogram court, the same day issued arrest warrant against Gias Uddin, a BNP Vice-Chairman and younger brother of Salah Uddin Quader Chowdhury in this case.
Another case was filed by Md Jamaluddin, President of Fatikchhari Upazila Chhatra League, with Fatikchhari Police Station on May 30 on charge of vandalising vehicles and torturing Chhatra League men during an Iftar programme, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, the lawyer for Gias Uddin told the reporters.
The HC Bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz and Justice Md Sohrawardi granted bail to Gias Uddin after hearing two separate petitions filed by him seeking bail in the cases.
The HC also ordered Gias Uddin to surrender before the trial courts after three weeks in connection with the cases.
The accused BNP leader appeared before the HC Bench for bail in the cases.
Barrister Ruhul Quddus also said his client will surrender to the trial courts in connection with the cases after the expiry of his bail order.
