Ghulam Azam sick at BSMMU Staff Reporter Professor Ghulam Azam, former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami and war crimes convict, fainted at the prison cell of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Thursday morning, hospital sources said. He was then brought to the Incentive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. In July last year, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 found Prof Azam guilty of wartime crimes and sentenced him to 90 years in prison, instead of the of capital punishment due to the nonagenarian age.
