Prof DR. Marcel Robischon of Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany has met Dhaka University (DU) Vice -Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Sunday at the latter’s office.
DU Director of the Center for Advanced Research in Arts and Social Sciences (CARASS) and Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam and Bangladeshi researcher at Humboldt University Dr Engineer Md. Zillur Rahman were present on the occasion.
During the meeting they discussed about various aspects of mutual cooperation and collaborations between the two universities. Therefore, a research project is going to be implemented with the CARASS and Humboldt University, Germany. In this connection, this German university has submitted an expression of interest already.
The project would concentrate on social science particularly communication aspects of waste-water management for better environmental conservation in Bangladesh. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities would be signed soon for smooth implementation of joint activities.
Vice -Chancellor Prof Arefin Siddique thanked Dr Marcel Robischon for his visit at the university and eagerness to work jointly. He acknowledged German government and people for their wholehearted support and cooperation during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. He praised Germany for providing medical treatment to the injured freedom fighters after the war and independence as well.
Prof Siddique mentioned that joint collaborative programmes on higher education between the two universities would surely strengthen existing bi-lateral relations not only with the two universities but also with the two nations.
