German companies interested for BD market: Ambassador

A business seminar was organized and hosted by country’s largest bilateral trade body Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI). The seminar titled as “Pharma Sector of Bangladesh: The Next Big Thing!” discussed growth potentials of pharma sector and how it will be one of the most prolific driving force of Bangladesh’s economy in the upcoming days in an elaborated manner. Speakers pointed out pharma sector as one of the most promising investable sector with potentials high as RMG.
Among many other dignitaries and diplomats, the German Ambassador Dr. Thomas Prinz attended the business meeting. In his speech as the special Guest he said “I can tell you that more and more German companies are getting interested about Bangladeshi Market.” He also added “I am really happy to see the German companies working in Bangladesh. But I can see that there are more chances to do well here with some required changes. We could have more companies investing in BGD within the last 2 years. And in addition I see a number of German companies contributing largely to the development in BGD from infrastructure to Agriculture and Services.”
The president of BGCCI, Tawfiq Ali is hopeful that such kind of initiative of his chamber will be helping Bangladesh to attract more investors to seek and find business opportunities here in Bangladesh. On the other hand the local entrepreneurs will be availing more scope of work due to BGCCI’s sector centric business networking approach.
 “Honorable Prime Minister Shaikh Hasina has recently declared Pharma as the product of the year for 2018. She said she believes Bangladesh’s pharmaceuticals can reach the same level of international recognition and respect as RMG. As the country’s largest bilateral trade body, we are proud to say that we share the same vision as our honorable prime minister.”
Emphasizing BGCCI’s stance in this matter, the president reiterated “There are several sectors in Bangladesh on which we can be proud of and undoubtedly the
Pharmaceutical sector is one of them. It is one of Bangladesh’s success stories and one of the most technologically advanced sectors currently in existence. This industry is matter of substantial pride to the country.
 Skillful attitudes, knowledge and innovative ideas from the professionals are the key reasons why this industry grew in the way it did.”
Among the guest speakers Md Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Chairman & CEO, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited, Prabal Bose, Managing Director & CEO, Siemens Bangladesh Ltd, Muin Uddin Mazumder, Managing Director, Sanofi Bangladesh Limited, addressed the audience and discussed the growth factors of pharma sector from their own different experience and expertise.
The Key Note speaker of the event Abdul Muktadir, Chairman and Managing Director, Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd said “Incepta as a Bangladeshi company don’t want to contain itself in a country or in a region, rather Incepta wants to produce products that are meant for everyone, everywhere. This pharmaceutical company is proudly working with Germany, with a German name, but as a Bangladeshi venture. “
Showcasing Incepta as an example of successful Bangladeshi business venture Abdul Muktadir mentioned “We are a Bangladeshi company, world things so little of us, they think we are poor, we can’t do anything right, but we have proven them wrong. We are a Bangladeshi company which is producing world class products for the majority world. We want to be the next manufacturing destination for the world class multinationals and we want to produce high quality medicines for them in a cost effective way.”
The experts of this sector attending this event indicated that positive developments in the pharmaceutical sector have enabled Bangladesh to export medicine to global markets. By overcoming the underlying obstacles this sector can develop more then we have expected.
