General polls to be held as per constitution: Minister

Urging BNP to take preparation for the next general election, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Saturday categorically said the polls will be held in line with the country’s constitution.
“Next election will be held as per the constitution. The quarter who doesn’t abide by the constitution has no right to do politics on the holy soil of Bangladesh,” he said while speaking at the national convention of
Bangladesh Deshiya Chikitshak Samity (BDCS) at Engineers Institution auditorium here.
Nasim, also Awami League Presidium Member, said the next parliamentary election for 2019 will he be held under the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the country must run according to existing constitution.
Questioning the remark of BNP on upcoming polls issue, the AL leader said, “Why do you want to assume office through unconstitutional means? The people who don’t believe in the constitution have no right to do politics here and they aren’t also the citizens of Bangladesh.” The minister said the Election Commission will ensure a free, fair and impartial poll as a referee and “We will accept the polls results what it would be.”
Nasim also advised BNP to quit politics if they (BNP leaders) have less faith in mass people. Samity President Dr. M Mizanur Rahman chaired the programme. Veteran politician Pankaj Bhatyacharya, Bangladesh Agro-Processors Association President AFM Fakhrul Islam Munsi, Managing Director of Hamdard Laboratories (Waqf) Bangladesh Dr Yusuf Harun Bhuiyan and Secretary General Mohammad Habibur Rahman, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
