General holiday may be extended by 7 days

The government is likely to extend the general holiday by seven more days to contain coronavirus taking the prevailing situation into consideration, a Cabinet Division official said.
Earlier on March 23, the government had declared a ten-day holiday for the government and the private organizations from March 26 till April 4 to curb the outbreak of the epidemic.
A decision to this end may be taken today (Tuesday), according to him.
State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said, “The holidays may be extended subject to the situation.”
Sources said, the holiday may be extended by seven days. Further decision will be taken as deemed necessary.
The government’s earlier declared general holidays include weekly and public holidays, from March 26 to April 4.
The first coronavirus patient in Bangladesh was detected on March 8. So far 49 coronavirus patients have been detected in Bangladesh and five died.
