Chattogram Bureau :
Necessary steps have been taken to transform the 250-bed Chittagong General Hospital into a full-fledged medical college hospital with 500 beds, said Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel. He said this while addressing a meeting of the hospital management committee held at the conference room of the General Hospital on Monday noon.
He said the government is sincere enough to improve the quality of health services in the 250-bed Chittagong General Hospital. The General Hospital is located in the heart of the city.
Necessary steps have been taken to transform this hospital from a 250-bed to a 500-bed hospital into a full-fledged medical college hospital soon. Considering the importance of this, a proposal has been sent to the concerned ministry for the construction of a new 10-storey multi-storied building and later a 20-storey multi-storey building.
At the same time, the ministry has been informed about the recruitment of necessary manpower and increase in other facilities. Once the multi-storied building is constructed, all kinds of problems will be solved in phases.
“Infrastructure is not just about hospitals, it’s about medical care,” Nawfel said. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of the father of the nation, has been working sincerely for the overall development of the hospital. Efforts are being made to turn the General Hospital into a medical college hospital. I hope I can do that during the tenure of this government, sources added.
