The fifth three-day “Gemcon Golf Tournament -2016” ended through a colourful ceremony at Rangpur Golf Club (RGC) in Rangpur Cantonment here Saturday night.
More than 100 contestants of different Golf Clubs from all over the country participated in the male, female, junior and sub-junior groups of the tournament sponsored by Gemcon Group, RGC sources said.
Rangpur Area Commander, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 66 Infantry Division and President of RGC Major General Md Masud Razzaque, ndc, afwc, psc, attended the inaugural and concluding ceremonies as the chief guest.
In the Male Group, golfer Dr Md Zabed Akhter secured the first position while golfer Major General Md Masud Razzaque won the best gross award.
Golfer Lieutenant Colonel Md Mamun Ar Rashid became the runner up while golfer Major Golam Mabud Hassan won the second best gross award.
Golfer Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah won the third best gross award and Major Humayun Kabir became the second runner up.
Golfer Colonel Md Zulfiqar Ali won the ‘conventional on’ award while Brigadier General ABM Shefaul Karim won the nearest to pin award.
Golfer Brigadier General Md Amin Akbar secured the maxim par award while Colonel Kazi Shameem Farhad won award for making the longest drive.
In Female Group, Nasrine Haque Bobby became the winner while Mrs Salma Nasir was awarded for becoming the best gross. Fida secured the first position while Saadat become the runner up in Junior Group.
In Sub-Junior Group, Rehan secured the first position and Raj Mita became the runner up. Major General Masud Razzaque attended the colourful prize distribution ceremony and distributed awards among the winners.
Head of Human Resources of Gemcon Group Sayeed Ahmed, Chief Operating Officer of Gemcon Jute Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Monayem, Chief Executive Officer of New Business Major (Retd) Rana attended as special guests.
High-ranking military officials, RGC officials, participating golfers and local journalists were present, among others.
The prize-giving ceremony was followed by a colourful cultural function where music, songs and dances were presented by the local artistes.
