Staff Reporter :
A large number of villagers of Tetoitala under Gazaria upazila in Munshiganj district blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway on Sunday afternoon demanding immediate removal of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ferdous Ahmed. The agitated locals left the highway after half an hour. But by that time a long tailback was seen on the both sides of the bridge Meghna.
During the blockade, around 500 vehicles got stranded there causing a lot
of sufferings to the passengers, witnesses said.
The villagers alleged that miscreants vandalized their 14 houses centering upcoming Baluakandi Union Parishad election to be held on August 24. But the OC reportedly refused to register any case about the incident.
In this circumstances, villagers said, they don’t want the incumbent OC of Gazaria anymore.
However, a team of police, later, led by Gazaria Thana’s two Sub-Inspectors convinced the people to withdraw the blockade.
Contrary, the OC Ferdous Ahmed rejected the claim and said that the thana had registered a case in this connection.
